STEP 6 ANALYSIS

We decided to have our final and finished step of the analysis stages for our piece. We finalised all of the shots and edits possible and available to us. We discussed everything that we're going to use including sound effects. We think that the cuts between the killer and our main character will save time for us to combine even more and interesting footage as we are combining two scenes together through the means of editing. We used the establishing shot of the house to signify the house that our killer is going to be walking in. The nighttime is there to help create a slight tension as the night is generally scarier than the day time, also most successful horror movies set their main scenes during nighttime. We also made notes of our sound effects. We previously had already chosen to have footsteps but now decided to have a heartbeat when the screen is fading to black as he enters the house. We also decided to add a non-diegetic sound effect during the killer walking to make it interesting. The last thing we were going to do was the ring on our main character but we decided that a cross tattoo on his middle right finger is more intensifying.

DIFFERENT SOUND EFFECTS WITH LOGIC PRO

We discovered the different types of effect we can add to our effects in order to make it more interesting. We hope it works well with our final product and we will continue to posts any update concerning our production.

ISSUES WITH FILMING!

We filmed half of our production already and have even been finding more music and sound effects just expand our library of resources. However due to the terrible weather conditions there has been snow everywhere! This of course is bad for our filming since it will ruin our continuity which we was keeping a close eye on this time around. For the time being all we can do is wait for the snow to melt away and hopfully get some inside shots, keeping the snow out of sight. In this time I also plan to try and get a bit of editing done, editing the good amount of footage we already have. We really hope that the snow will be gone with in the next couple days, so that it will not get in the way of our time too much..

RE-FILMING

We have finished the editing stage but we were not happy with the end result so we decided to re-film the whole scenes again. We are not just re-filming but we have gotten a new character to play the killer. This time I really hope it goes very well for us. :)

STEP 5 ANALYSIS

This is our fifth step of our analysis. We cam up with some finalised ideas that we wanted for our main production. We decided to have cuts during the walk cycle of our killer, we're going to cut to and fro from the killer and his victim, to add more pace and tension. Our aim is to make our audience focus on watching our production. Another choice of editing was the different kinds of fades. We're going to be doing this during the walking cycle right before our killer steps on the crushed can drink and walking down the street. We wanted to have a flashback in our production to the time that the killer and our main character met for the first time.

ROLES OF OUR GROUP

We all had different roles within the group; this of course was the make the workload spread out among us, saving valuable time.

Dee – she worked mainly on the storyboarding, although we helped she did most of the drawings on the storyboards.
She also took a hand in the screenplay, Daniel threw ideas at her and they collaborated with me to all write out the screenplay. She also allowed for us to use her house as the main location. She also did some of the filming when she was not involved in acting as she was the main actor also.

Me- I worked mostly on the music and title editing for our piece,I used programs on the macs to create and construct music and sound effects that was fitting to our piece. These included dark musical tones and even a heartbeat. I also did the majority of the editing for the preliminary.

Daniel- Although we all did some editing, Daniel's job involved more editing. He did heavy amounts of research on editing techniques and tools of premiere pro (the program we used to edit), he also directed our filming stage of our production. During the times he wasn’t directing he was doing continuity checks, making sure the lighting and actions of our characters stayed the same and relevant during different takes.

AUDIENCE PIE CHART

We conducted a survey and found that 70% of the 100 people who took part in the survey said that our production would be something that they would be interested in watching. We conducted our survey around our school as well as asking a few people in the street. We targeted the ranges of people in our target audience because we wanted to see if we had tailored our production towards them. We were very happy with what we had done so far since over half the people we asked said that they would be interested. We hope we can get more people interested in our second draft filming.

SOUND EFFECT RESEARCHING

During the editing stages, we thought it would be a good idea to add effects unto our production. Daniel came up with the idea of adding footsteps and heartbeat to make our production seem even more creepy. I came up with different softwares such as garageband and logic pro which allows you to use copyright free sound effect and music. Daniel did a little research and found this website in the picture above which allows him royalty and copyrights free sound effects. The website (http://www.partnersinrhyme.com/pir/PIRsfx.shtml), was able to help us through our editing stage providing us with a huge arsenal of non-diagetic sounds.

BEHIND THE SCENES OF FILMING

DEE GETTING HER MAKE-UP READY FOR FILMING

We took a few pictures behind the scene to add a little extra something on our blog for your viewing. The make-up session was the longest as we tried to make everything as perfect as possible. One little lack was that everyone present was not very much artistic.

SECOND DAY OF FILMING

During our second day of filming, due to an emergency, I was unable to film with my group so the responsibilty on their shoulders was heavier. I saw the filming they had done the next day and I was pleased with the quality it had been filmed.

FIRST DAY OF FILMING

The first day of our filming stage was the most exciting bit of our production as we couldn't wait to get started. We arrived at our location about an hour before it gets dark, then we planned what we were going to do then. We organised the actors and when it got dark, we used a bunch of different camera shots such as POV shot, birds eye view, and high angle shots for our first few scenes. We were happy with what we had achieved as through the quality of filming we saw progress in our media journey. The lighting couldn't have been any better. We uploaded the captured video unto the mac computer to be ready for editing.

COSTUMES

We have found our charcters so now the next stage was to find the right costume to fit our characters' profile. We decided that a black clothing selection would very much suit our character since most of our scene is filmed during nightime. We also decided a black hooded jumper as it covers our killer's face because we want to make his identity remain a mystery. Seeing as its winter, a bomber jacket would make him not get cold and also seem to make him even much bigger and more threatening. We hope that the audience would see the effect we're trying to indicate here.

ACTORS FOR OUR FINAL PRODUCTION

For our final productions, we are getting to the filming stage so now we need to think of the actors we will need for our production. We ran some auditions between some of our friends both in and outside of our school. We needed a fairly tall and stocky character and it didnt take long till we found our actor. We think this would be a very good choice as he appeared rather threatening. We found he would be perfect for our final production.

For the female character, Dee (from our group), volunteered herself to be the actress for our final stage. We thought that it would be a good idea as she fit our character's profile (an innocent young female who is vulnerable).
